Without doubt, the finest golf course within Nanaimo city limits is the Nanaimo Golf Club, 2800 Highland Boulevard, Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Players must wear proper golf attire at this well established course and stay out of the flower beds. You'll enjoy excellent views of Departure Bay from almost all 18 holes, but don't linger as slow players are not appreciated.
Green fees are $43/72 for 9/18 holes plus tax. If you arrive after 4:30 pm, it's always $43. The best deal is the "Nine and Dine" offer from 2 pm until dusk on Friday and Saturday. This package allows you to play nine holes for $40 with a $20 food voucher included. The large club house restaurant and bar on the premises is often crowded and worth a visit in its own right.
Driving to the Nanaimo Golf Club is a little tricky the first time due to a "no right turn" rule on the northbound land of Island Highway 19A.
An easy way to get there is to turn off the Island Highway when you see the large Staples store at Brooks Landing near the point where Departure Bay Road, Estevan Road, Brechin Road, and the Island Highway come together. Drive through the Staples parking lot and up onto Highland Boulevard which parallels the Island Highway all the way to the golf course.
